2009 Rentzero Review

People have been renting DVDs for years and years. Why is this? Because it’s a lot cheaper than paying for a movie just to watch it once and let it sit on your shelf for years. So, doesn’t it make sense to have the same thought process with video games? That’s what the people at Rentzero thought. Instead of paying more than 50 bucks for a video game up front, Rentzero uses the slogan: “Try it, like it, then buy it!” This means that, from the comfort of your own home you can have games delivered to your doorstep with only the click of a button. Rentzero is here to make your life easier.
Rentzero: Offering over 4000 game titles!
Rentzero has its absolute advantages, as well as its unfortunately obvious disadvantages. First, we'll look at the advantages. At any given time, Rentzero has thousands of games in stock, ready to ship out to you as soon as you request. If there’s a game you want, chances are, Rentzero probably has it. This company has something to offer for the whole family whether it be games to play together or solo games that will keep you on the edge of your seat! They currently support Sony’s Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Microsoft’s Xbox360 as well as Xbox, Nintendo Gamecube, and the Wii!
Rentzero offers six rental plans, putting you in charge of how much to spend. With month to month rates ranging from $13.95 – $27.95, you are given the option to keep one game at a time up to three games at a time. If this seems a little steep to you, do not fret! Rentzero also offers you the opportunity to pay yearly which drops your monthly rate to $9.95 - $21.95. With so many options, there is sure to be a plan suitable for you! Another great feature is the 14-day free trial in case you just want to take them out for a test drive. After all, you want to see what your money’s paying for, right?
The Downside to Rentzero…
Unfortunately, like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. Rentzero is cheaper than Gamerang and Gamefly but it comes with a price. Shipping times are longer than its competition due to the fact that they only distribute from their base in Houston TX. If you live in Northern or Coastal States, delivery can take up to 4 or 5 days. I’m sure Rentzero will remedy this by making more branches in the future but as of now, they only have the one distribution point.
Their other pitfall is that they only support six consoles leaving those that enjoy a good classic game with nothing to look forward to. Hopefully in the future they will support more game consoles.
All things considered, Rentzero can be a great alternative for the average gamer that is patient and just wants to save a few bucks here and there. If you are looking for a good game rental company just do your homework and I’m sure you’ll find the right place for you. If Rentzero is your choice, then I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
